Orientation Program

On November 7th, 2019, the Architecture Department held an orientation program under the supervision of the Head of Department Ms.Soma Abdulsalam, targeting the freshman students that are willing to study Architecture in TIU. The seminar was presented by the lecturers’ Mr. No’aman Albayati and Mr.Younis Ali, as they welcomed the new coming students and introduced them to Architecture. They also answered all their questions and made sure they received a comprehensive, preliminary understanding about architecture and the program they are going to learn at TIU.

On October 23rd, 2019, the Architecture Department of Tishk International University organized a lunch for its hardworking staff. The gathering was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Halit Vural, and Head of Architecture Department, Ms.Soma Abdulsalam, as well as all full-time and part-time lecturers and assistants. All staff spent a nice time together, enjoying the meals and discussing topics out of the stress of work.

On Monday, October 21st, 2019, TIU- Architectural Design Department organized a scientific trip for fourth-grade students as a part of the scientific activities that relate to Architectural Design Studio Vl. Under the supervision of their lecturers of Architectural Design, Dr. Muammal Ibrahim, Dr. Shaimaa Al-Kubaisi, Dr.Adeeb Noori, Madyan Mahir, and Research Assistants Mr.Idrees Ismail, Miss Wafaa Wasfi and Miss Lava Ahmed, the students visited Raparin Hospital, CMC Private Hospital and UKH Academic Hospital in Erbil City. One of our Architecture Department’s teaching methodologies is ensuring that students put theory explained in class into practice. Hence, architecture students are often taken for field trips to visit areas that help them with their design projects. On October 20th 2019, third-year architecture students visited the site of their design project, which was located on Gulan Street, besides Ashtar Sweets, to observe the site and its surroundings in order to facilitate their designing process. Seminar “City and war – post war reconstruction aleppo the next conflict”

On Wednesday September 18th, 2019 a seminar was held by the Architecture Department, presented by Dr. Fatina Kurdi, Professor at University TU-Dresden Germany, under the title “City and war – post-war reconstruction: Aleppo the next conflict” . The core of the subject was the destructive force of war in cities, the suffering it causes and the impact on people's lives and livelihoods. The presentation also covered the strategies that should be implemented to rebuild the destructed cities. On November 4-5, 2019, Tishk International University in collaboration with the University of Technology/Baghdad organized the 2nd international conference on architecture and interior design under the theme of “Identity:  Tradition and Innovation”. Environmental visit to Shex-Turab Area

In celebration of the 1st of May Labors Day by Tishk International University, groups of students of both 4th stage Architectural Engineering and Interior Design Departments alongside their coaching staff, organized a very stimulating environmental trip to the mountains of Kurdistan, a place called Shaikh -Turab. At the site, many activities were done by the students and the faculty staff, such as mountaineering, walking, football gaming, and volleyball as well. Prof Dr. Azad Hama, Head of Architecture Department, delivered a seminar in the Engineering Faculty at Tishk International University, under the title "The Dubaization of Erbil: Is it an accomplished dream?”, presented on April 30th, 2018.   The seminar talked about the city of Erbil; it demonstrated the historical aspect (its citadel) of the city as a very ancient city in the world, and how following the modernization process, the city has lost its architectural identity.
