Asst. Prof Dr. Azad Hama, Head of Architecture Department, delivered a seminar in the Engineering Faculty at Tishk International University, under the title “The Dubaization of Erbil: Is it an accomplished dream?”, presented on April 30th, 2018.
The seminar talked about the city of Erbil; it demonstrated the historical aspect (its citadel) of the city as a very ancient city in the world, and how following the modernization process, the city has lost its architectural identity. It also discussed the urbanization process in Erbil and illustrated how a kind of “Dubai – type” housing and settlements introduced to the city reshaped the profile of Erbil.
