Workshop on Space Syntax Analysis
The Department of Architectural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University held a workshop titled: Space Syntax Analysis: Methods and Techniques. The workshop was presented by Mr. Noman Albayati on March 28th, 2022.
The workshop aimed to explain the concept and methodology of Space Syntax. Space Syntax is an analytical method, which can measure several social aspects in buildings and cities, depending on a simple mathematical representation. The workshop included a practical session, in which participants were given a template file to work on and to train on using the application.
Upon completing the practical session of the workshop, discussions on the relevant aspects of the software were held between participants and the presenter, discussing the application of the software within the academic field and its benefits in research. The workshop further explained how Space Syntax is applied in the architectural industry and by urban designers. Many research and academic studies highly depend on this tool to study, analyze and evaluate the current architectural and urban design issues. Departmental academic staff also attended the session and gave positive feedback about the outcome of the workshop.
