Architecture department condcuted an IELTS training for the Tishk International University staff. the workshop took place over 6 days starting from 29 may 2022 to 5th June 2022.the training was given by Miss Shahd, Miss Saya, Miss Lana and Miss Faten.
over the 6 days all the sections of IELTS test were explained and discussed extensively.the Academic IELTS training is a guide a help for the participants to understand all four parts of the Academic ILETS exam. all four parts being Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. the format, procedures, grading systems and techniques of the exam were be covered and explained extensively. After discussing and explaining each section, mock tests were administered. the goal was to improve the academic English level of the participants and in the long run to improve the research writing outcome.
On the first day Sunday 29 may 2022, the first session took place. first introducing the exam in general in addition to the explanation of the writing section.Miss Saya, explained all the question types in writing section. the first task and second task were explained and examples solved step by step with notes and tips.
On the second day Monday 30 may 2022, the second session took place.Miss Shahd first introduced the reading part in general in addition to the explanation of all the possible question types in IELTS reading. later on all the eleven question types the were explained and examples solved step by step with notes and additional tips.
the practice of solving the passages in the session and letting participants try their answers.as well as what makes them right or wrong helped the participants solidify their understanding of how the IELTS reading works.
the engagement and the competitiveness helped make the 2 hours long session seems shorter than it was. reading more than 5 passages each with a range of 800 to a 1000 words count.
On the third day, Tuesday 31 May 2022, the third session took place. Miss Lana explained the speaking session.
first introducing the speaking part. second listing the question types . and in the end she conducted a mock speaking exam with a volunteer. the mock exam proved helpful to illustrate how the speaking test is done and get the participants to grasp the techniques explained earlier.
The fourth day on Wednesday 1st of June, the fourth section of the IELTS exam part were explained. the listening session was explained by Miss Faten.first she introduced the listing sections question types. the possible layout of diagrams and all the details that the test taker must notice and be ware of.later she played practice questions on all the question types and participants answered them and checked their score upon finishing the questions.
