On Monday, February 15, 2021, TIU- Architectural Design Department organized a scientific trip for second-grade students as a part of the scientific activities that relate to the 'Free Hand Drawing' course. Students headed to Erbil Citadel with their supervisors, Dr. Sarkawt, and Research Assistants: Miss Shahd Ahmed and Miss Lava Ahmed.Students were firstly introduced to the local architecture and the building materials used, and analysed several aspects of the design elements of the citadel. Tamayuz Excellence is a multi-competition international initiative. The seven different international competitions award was established in 2012 in the UK and has annual cycles of various competitions; one of them is the Iraqi graduation projects. The Iraqi graduation projects competition by Tamayuz, gives opportunity to all schools of architecture in Iraq, and Iraqi students all over the world to present their graduation projects, and presents various awards to the winners. On December 9th, 2020, the Architecture Department held an orientation program, organized for the freshman students that are willing to study Architecture at TIU. The program, under the supervision of the Head of Department, Mr. Haval Sami, lasted for two days, in which the Head of Department warmly welcomed the new coming students and introduced them to the Architecture Department.
