One of our Architecture Department’s teaching methodologies is ensuring that students put theory explained in class into practice. Hence, architecture students are often taken for field trips to visit areas that help them with their design projects. On Wednesday September 18th, 2019 a seminar was held by the Architecture Department, presented by Dr. Fatina Kurdi, Professor at University TU-Dresden Germany, under the title “City and war – post-war reconstruction: Aleppo the next conflict” . The core of the subject was the destructive force of war in cities, the suffering it causes and the impact on people's lives and livelihoods. The presentation also covered the strategies that should be implemented to rebuild the destructed cities. In celebration of the 1st of May Labors Day by Tishk International University, groups of students of both 4th stage Architectural Engineering and Interior Design Departments alongside their coaching staff, organized a very stimulating environmental trip to the mountains of Kurdistan, a place called Shaikh -Turab. At the site, many activities were done by the students and the faculty staff, such as mountaineering, walking, football gaming, and volleyball as well. Dr Azad Hama Shekhany the Head of Architecture Department, Engineering faculty at Tishk International University, has won a prize of 2019 award for an Individual piece of art for his work ‘The Ship Of Diversity'. This is from Azad's series 'Ship'. This Series reflects the many peoples now 'adrift' in the world.
