A workshop titled “AI Challenges in the Academic Field” was held on November 27, 2024, in Hall 302 of the Education Building at Tishk International University (TIU). The event explored how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming academic research and writing. The workshop was organized for academic staff to discuss how AI is reshaping traditional research practices.

The speaker, Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Ashir, highlighted the practical benefits of AI tools like Grammarly, QuillBot, and Semantic Scholar in streamlining tedious tasks such as language refinement and managing citations. He emphasized that these tools allow researchers to focus more on critical thinking and problem-solving.

Responsible AI Use in Academia

Dr. Ashir also addressed the ethical concerns related to originality and intellectual contributions, stressing the importance of using AI responsibly. He underscored the potential of AI to complement, not replace, human creativity in scholarly work. He believes that a collaborative approach, where researchers leverage AI as an assistant, can elevate academic standards and lead to groundbreaking discoveries.
