On October 24, 2024, the Computer Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) hosted an international workshop titled, “Making Business Easier with AI: What You Need to Know.” The event was led by Prof. Dr. Bestoun S. Ahmed, a professor from Karlstad University, and attracted a diverse audience of academics, students, and local business owners.
The workshop explored how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the industrial landscape by enhancing processes, improving decision-making, and driving innovation. Dr. Ahmed shared insights on how AI tools can streamline business operations, boost customer engagement, and help companies remain competitive. The session provided attendees with a deeper understanding of AI’s potential to revolutionize modern industry and offered practical ways to implement these technologies.
Dr. Ahmed, who has an extensive background in software quality assurance, applied AI, and trustworthy AI, highlighted how AI is reshaping the business world and shared his vision for integrating trustworthy AI into industries globally.
About the Speaker
Prof. Dr. Bestoun S. Ahmed has an impressive academic and professional background. He earned his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Salahaddin-Erbil in 2004, an M.Sc. from University Putra Malaysia in 2009, and a Ph.D. in Software Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2012. His career has included research fellowships at institutions like the Software Engineering Research Group at USM and the Swiss AI Lab IDSIA in Lugano, Switzerland. He co-founded the STILL (Software Testing Intelligence) lab at the Czech Technical University in Prague before joining Karlstad University in 2019, where he was promoted to Professor in 2023. His research focuses on software quality assurance, applied AI, and trustworthy AI.
