The opening ceremony was commenced by Dr. Idris Hadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tishk International University, in which he explained the TIU system, and extended his appreciation to the organizing committee of the event, partner university, and experts who participated in the symposium. Scientific Trip to 150m Erbil & Hemn Group Aggregate Crusher Plant On November 30th, 2021, the Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University organized a scientific trip to 150m in Erbil, Hemn Group Aggregate Crusher Plant, and Asphalt Mixing Plant. The scientific trip was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ganjeena Khoshnaw, Dr. Yousif Abdullah, and Mr. Halmat Muslih, and was divided into 2 sessions. In the morning students paid a visit to the 150m road in Erbil, which is currently under construction, to learn about road construction in practice. On November 17th, 2021, Dr. Yousif Abduallah Hussein presented a seminar entitled 'Applications of Soil Resistivity Imaging in Geotechnical Engineering.' The seminar was dedicated to portraying the resistivity measurements that can indicate the relative ability of the medium to carry electrical currents. This measurement is used in corrosion control of buried structures by providing cathodic protection.

The purpose of the seminar was to discuss mechanisms and techniques that enhance departmental academic performance. Internal Seminar: Water Resource Problem in Iraq The Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University periodically organizes internal seminars regarding the trending topics related to the department. On November 18th, 2021, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thamir Mohammed Ahmed presented a seminar entitled 'Water Resource Problem in Iraq', highlighting the water scarcity that Iraq is currently facing, although it is ranked as a rich country in water resources. The seminar identified the problem of why the supply rates are almost lower than the growth of demand rate and further discussed proposed solutions to the issues presented.
