In a recent appearance on Rudaw TV, experts discussed strategies for earthquake risk mitigation in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Dr. Barham Haidar, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at TIU, stressed the importance of implementing projects according to structural design documents and surveying soil types in the region to identify the appropriate number of floors based on their response to earthquake waves. Dear Student, You can take fall semester courses according the instruction in the PDF file (Download). General Instructions for Spring 2023 1- Courses should be selected by students. 2- Students must take the retake (Failed) courses and then the grade courses. 3- Student should visit their respective advisor to approve his/her registration form. 4- For courses that require the use of a computer, students must bring their own laptops. 5- For the elective courses, registration will be done on a first-come-first-served base due to the limited number of seats.

On the start of this academic year (2022-2023), the department of civil engineering has decided to enable the use of the student email system. Each student was given a personal email address under the domain of the university. From now forward, all official announcements regarding department activity will be shared using this email system. Announcements include: time of exams, changes in the schedule, department events ... Etc. The use of this system greatly improved the communication between instructors and students.
