Drilling problems
A workshop titled ‘Drilling Problems’ was presented by Mr. SORAN M. MOHAMMED ALI from TAQA ATRUSH B. V. Company at Tishk International University in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq on February 25, 2021. The seminar was arranged by the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, as part of the IEC7th International Engineering Conference (IEC-2021). It covered one of the most important topics in Petroleum Engineering, particularly Drilling Engineering.
The presenter has several years of experience in the oil industry and has held different positions in many oil companies in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Currently, he is working at TAQA ATRUSH B. V. Company as Senior Engineer.
The workshop started at 10:30 AM, with an introduction about the main and common drilling problems during drilling an oil/gas well. Mr. Soran then presented three real cases with big drilling problems in Kurdistan. The presentation ended with conclusions and lessons learned from the drilling problems in KRI.
TIU students and staff, as well as guests from outside the University, particularly from several oil companies and universities, attended the workshop. The amount and diversity of attendees revealed the importance of the event and the valuable scientific material which was presented. During and after the presentation, valuable discussions regarding the presentation and related issues were held between the presenter and the guests.
