The Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) successfully conducted a two-week internship program for fourth-grade students at North Gas Company in Kirkuk City. The intensive training, which ran from January 26 to February 6, 2025, aimed to enhance students’ technical knowledge and prepare them for real-world challenges in the oil and gas sector.
Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Industry
During the program, students gained valuable industry experience through practical sessions, theoretical lectures, exams, and evaluations. This hands-on initiative was a crucial step in preparing them for professional careers. The department’s staff member, Mr. Omar Azad, accompanied the students throughout the internship, ensuring a smooth and productive learning experience.
The Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering extends its gratitude to North Gas Company for their generous support, particularly Engineer Gailan Salahaldeen Omar and Engineer Mohaimen Mohammed Younis from the Gas Production Department, as well as Engineer Nihad Jamal, Head of the Training and Development Department. Their guidance and expertise played a vital role in making this internship a successful learning opportunity for our students.
We look forward to future collaborations with North Gas Company to continue providing our students with invaluable industry exposure and hands-on experience.
