TIU Hosts Well Services Training Course
In collaboration with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and Pulsar Petroleum (PP), the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a comprehensive well services training program, hosted from April 27th to May 1st, 2024. The event attracted over 50 participants, primarily professionals from a variety of petroleum companies in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Staff members, Dr. Fadhil Ali, Mr. Mohammed Ariwan, Mr. Omar Azad, and Mr. Ibrahim Fatih, played an essential part in the organising committee, ensuring the success of the training programme and the courses offered. TIU ensured that participants were refreshed with a morning coffee break and a lunch service each day, thereby enhancing the experience. The training course provided a conducive learning environment for those attending.
Day 1
Day 1 commenced with an in-depth session on wellhead and X-mass tree, delivered by Mr. Sameer Yunus, a senior drilling and completion engineering supervisor. Dr. Fadhil Ali, Head of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at TIU, welcomed participants with an opening speech, setting the tone for the rich learning experience ahead.
Day 2
Mr. Diyari Qadir, Senior Well Service Engineer at KAR Group, delivered a presentation on well-testing operations and analysis on Day 2. Mr. Qadir provided valuable insights that were derived from his extensive experience in well-testing, particularly in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Day 3
Attendees participated in an additional informative session on Day 3, which focused on well-stimulation processes. Mr. Diyari Qadir delivered practical knowledge and industry insights.
Day 4
Day 4 highlighted coiled tubing operations, delivered by Mr. Twana Nawzad, Service Coordinator at Halliburton Company. The significance and adaptability of coiled tubing systems in oil service operations were highlighted by Mr. Nawzat’s presentation.
Day 5
Mr. Sameer Yunus, once again delivered a presentation on slickline operations on the final day. The session concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants, followed by expressions of gratitude to TIU and the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department for hosting the successful training programme.
