From May 18 to May 22, 2025, the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) successfully organized an intensive five-day training program titled “Desulfurization and Producing Sulfur from H₂S Gas” for engineers from North Gas Company—one of Iraq’s leading public oil and gas enterprises. This marks the first program in a series of three scheduled training sessions that aim to build academic-industry synergy and foster long-term collaboration between TIU and North Gas Company. The training followed the company’s recent hosting of TIU students for internship placements, laying the foundation for reciprocal technical exchange and partnership development.
Training Details
- Duration: 5 days (May 18–22, 2025)
- Sessions: Two sessions per day
- Location: TIU Campus
- Participants: North Gas Company engineers
The training was led by Assistant Professor Ziyad Jamill Talabany, a faculty expert in gas processing technologies, with coordination and logistical support provided by Mr. Omar Azad, a department staff member and representative of the Internship and Industrial Committees. Their combined efforts ensured the successful execution of the program, both technically and administratively.
Purpose and Impact
This initiative represents a strategic step in the department’s ongoing mission to:
- Strengthen ties with the energy sector
- Provide real-world, industry-relevant training opportunities
- Facilitate technical collaboration between academia and public industry
- Promote mutual growth and shared knowledge exchange
