3rd Grade Students Explore Weatherford’s Erbil Base

On November 27th, the third-grade students of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at  Tishk International University (TIU) embarked on a field trip to Weatherford, an International Oil Service Company located at their Erbil base.

Immersing themselves in the Erbil base, students gained hands-on experience with essential petroleum engineering tools, including open hole well logging instruments, cased hole well logging instruments, wireline tools, and tracks. The exploration extended to production tools like packers, packer setting instruments, and insights into in-tubing processes. In the drilling section, students observed MPD tools (Managed Pressure Drilling) and UBD tools (Under Balance Drilling), alongside auxiliary instruments crucial for various drilling processes. This immersive tour allowed students to witness these instruments in action, deepening their understanding of their practical applications.

Specialized engineers from Weatherford guided students through each section, providing detailed explanations and insights. We acknowledge Ms. Shayma Hamza and Mr. Omar Azad from our staff for organizing this educational excursion, ensuring a seamless and informative experience for our students.
