On Thursday, 14 May 2026, the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department at Tishk International University organized a geological field trip to the Shaqlawa area for second-year students. This scientific activity aimed to strengthen students’ practical understanding of petroleum geology and geological formations through direct field observation. This geological field trip at TIU introduced students to different sediment types, stratigraphic units, and petroleum system elements. Moreover, the activity helped students understand how petroleum systems function in natural geological environments. On May 16th, 2024, the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a scientific trip for 2nd year students to the Aqra. The trip aimed to introduce the components of petroleum systems to students and to illustrate the efficient operation of these systems. Further to this, students acquired knowledge regarding oil seeps, the measurement of dip and strike, and various rock types and stratigraphic units in order to establish a strong foundation for their future careers in the petroleum industry.
