Shedding Light on the Present Mineral Deposits and Industrial Rocks Wealth in Kurdistan Region

Date: 16/12/2021    Time: 2:30 pm.                Venue: Conference Hall 201, Main Building, Tishk International University

Abstract: As a whole, the Kurdistan Region is rich in economic potential concerning mineral deposits and industrial rocks. Although no economic potential concerning metallic deposits is available yet, many indications and first-level proof are available in different parts. This is attributed, mainly to the nonexistence of Mineral Investment Law, by means of which advanced exploration and studies can be performed to improve recorded mineral showings.

The aim of this national workshop is to shed light on the present mineral deposits and industrial rocks which are present in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Moreover, it is aimed to outline the economic potentials of the recorded mineral showings and the studies previously conducted studies for evaluation, and the recommendation for future studies and investments. Furthermore, a comparative outline of the availability of educational institutions for petroleum engineering and the needs of petroleum engineers as compared to mining engineers will be highlighted and discussed.
