On Tuesday 8.5.2022, the department of Petroleum & Mining Engineering held a national Workshop under the titie of:
“Applications of Remote Sensing & GIS in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq”
The workshop was presented between 10 – 12 am In hall 201 in the Main Building –TIU. It was of two sessions, the first session was presented by Professor, Dr. Ayad M. Fadhil Al-Quraishi from TIU and the second session was presented by Mr. Rebar T. Ali Mzuri from Salahaddin University.
The national workshop was attended by 25 participants from different departments at TIU. The participants were very impressed by the two topics of the workshop which lead to detailed discussion about the environmental issues which affect the Kurdistan region community. Questions which were raised by the participants were adequately answered by the two presenters.

Biography
Dr. Ayad M. Fadhil Al-Quraishi is a Professor of Applied Remote Sensing & GIS at the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Tishk International University (TIU), Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). He received his Ph.D. Engineering degree in Geodetection and IT (Remote Sensing & GIS) from China University of Geosciences (CUG), Wuhan, China, in 2004. He has 42 years of experience in university teaching and supervised and examined more than 62 postgraduate students (Ph.D. & M.Sc.) in Iraqi and International Universities. He published more than 70 papers in national/international journals and conferences, edited four books for Springer, and contributed to 12 book chapters. He served as a peer reviewer for more than 47 International Journals. He was a Visiting Scholar at Michigan State University (MSU), the United States, in 2011, and served as a Guest Editor for the (Remote Sensing) journal of MDPI and (Journal of Applied Remote Sensing) of SPIE. Additionally, he has been selected as the Ambassador in Iraq of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE-GRSS) since 2016.
Rebar T. Ali Mzuri

Biography
Mr. Mzuri received his B.Sc. degree in geology in 2005, and his M.Sc. in 2014, and now he is a PhD Student in Remote sensing in Environment at the Geology Department, College of Science, Salahaddin University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He has several published papers related to the Environment and geology, and also he participated in international conferences.
