On December 17th, 2024, the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) organized an insightful site visit to the MASS Erbil Power Station, a key energy hub in Erbil city. The visit was supervised by Ms. Jwan Khaleel Mohammed and Mr. Ibrahim Fatih, with second-year students participating in this educational experience.
Bridging Academia with Industry
During the guided tour, students explored critical components of the Power Station, including the Central Controlling Rooms (CCRs), gas turbines, steam turbines, and other facilities. Specialized engineers in each section provided detailed explanations about workplace safety policies, gas transportation, and mechanical components like turbines, generators, and valves.
This immersive experience enriched students’ understanding of power generation processes and fostered connections with industry professionals. Tishk International University continues to prioritize practical exposure, ensuring the educational journey of its engineering students is both comprehensive and impactful.
