The Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department (PAME) at Tishk International University successfully held its national workshop titled “Advances in Drilling Techniques – Tools for Deviating and Surveying in Directional Drilling” on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The event welcomed a large number of participants, including students from all grades, lecturers, professors, and staff members from the department. The workshop was led by Dr. Mohammed Ali Namuq, Assistant Professor at the American University of Kurdistan, who brought extensive academic and industry experience to the audience.
A Day of Learning and Networking
The program started with a welcome speech from the Head of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department. In the first session, Dr. Mohammed presented advanced technologies used in wellbore deflection during directional drilling.
Following the first session, a coffee and refreshment break was arranged, allowing participants to network and strengthen professional relations. The workshop resumed with the second session, where the evolution of surveying technologies and real-time wellbore monitoring techniques were discussed in detail.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students and staff members expressed their gratitude to the speaker. Participants highlighted the great benefit they gained from the workshop, appreciating the valuable insights shared by Dr. Mohammed Ali Namuq.
