National Workshop: Logging While Drilling Implementations for Reservoir Characterization: A case study by Techlog Software

The Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering has organized a national workshop entitled “Logging While Drilling Implementations for Reservoir Characterization: A case study by Techlog Software”. This workshop will deal with the measurement of formation parameters in real-time during drilling the borehole. The objective of the workshop is to cover both the engineering and geological aspects of logging while drilling. The workshop aims to present the geological analysis and interpretations conducted from well-logging while drilling and to analyze the engineering aspect of the operation. Further to this, the seminar also intends to demonstrate the usage of data obtained from logging in reservoir engineering studies. The workshop will be presented in two sessions:

Presenter 1: Mr. Frzan Fraidoon Ali, a petroleum engineer with 7 years experience in the oil and gas industry. He has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, specializing in Reservoir Engineering. Mr. Frzan teaches petroleum engineering modules at Knowledge University and Tishk International University (link: https://knu.edu.iq/staff.php?stid=87).

Presenter 2: Mr. Revan Akram, a petroleum geology lecturer at Erbil Polytechnic University and a Ph.D. student of petrophysics at Salahaddin University. He has worked with Crescent Petroleum for several years as a wellsite geologist.

This workshop will be held for the academic staff of TIU University and Knowledge University. The workshop will take place at Tishk International University (TIU) in Erbil, room 202, on Thursday, 22nd of April, 2021 at 1 PM. The presentations can also be accessed online, live through the zoom platform that will be shared soon.
