Koya University’s SPE Chapter Explores Academic Synergy at TIU

On December 14th, 2023, Koya University‘s Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) student chapter, in collaboration with Tishk International University’s SPE chapter, organized a visit. Under the guidance of Mr. Omar Azad, Faculty Advisor of Tishk International University’s SPE Student Chapter and a dedicated staff member of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, students from Koya University immersed themselves in the academic tapestry of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University.

The day commenced with a warm welcome, as Dr. Fadhil Ali, Head of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department, delivered an inspiring speech, setting the stage for a day of exploration. Ms. Shayma Hamza provided an insightful introduction to the department, while Mr. Omar Azad, who played a pivotal role in the arrangements, invitation, and preparation, shed light on the vibrant social activities and the deanery of students at our university.

A highlight of the visit was Mr. Nabaz Ali’s lecture on a renowned petroleum reservoir engineering software, a request made by the guests. The engaging session provided valuable insights into the practical applications of industry-leading tools.

The exploration continued with a campus tour, encompassing various facets of university life, including the library and our department’s cutting-edge laboratories. From the Petroleum Drilling Engineering Lab to the Petroleum Reservoir Engineering Lab, Mining Engineering Lab, Thermodynamics Lab, and Fluid Mechanics Lab, students gained hands-on experience in these specialized spaces.

Post-tour, a delightful lunch provided an opportunity for networking and further discussions. The feedback from the guests, including the president, vice president, and officers of Koya University’s SPE chapter, along with other Petroleum Department students, resonated positively. Appreciation extended to the university, the campus ambiance, the well-equipped laboratories, and the overall system at Tishk International University.

This collaborative endeavour not only strengthened ties between the institutions but also showcased the commitment to fostering a shared academic journey and promoting knowledge exchange within the realm of petroleum engineering.
