Tishk International University organized a tree planting event within the scope of the Tree Planting Project. The event was arranged on March 14th, 2021, with the cooperation of the Directorate of Gardens and Parks Engineering. Dr. Bashir Hadad, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees, TIU, Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin Ahmad, TIU President, alongside academic staff and media outlets were present in the event.
The objective of the project was to develop more green zones in the region, enhance visual and aesthetic qualities in attempt to attract visitors and improve awareness regarding the importance of tree planting. This project provided an opportunity for TUI student engagement and involvement in social community events. The target of the project was to plant trees in different areas and reach as much zones as possible. TIU campus and dormitory, as well as one public school- Sabat High School for Girls’.
In the early morning of the event day, 300 trees were planted in TIU campus by the cooperation of our staff and students for all departments of the University. Subsequently, TIU Continuing Education Center delivered 80 trees to Sabat High School and planted them in the school garden with the assistance of the school administration. The next step of the project involves planting more trees in TIU Dormitory.
Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering student and staff participated in this project planting trees around the campus of the university.
