Internal Seminar – Environmental Pollution

On June 5th, 2024, the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) hosted an internal seminar presented by Shayma Hamza Sadon, focusing on the critical topic of environmental pollution. Concurrent with World Environment Day, the seminar, “Environment Pollution,” offered an appropriate setting for discussions regarding this pressing problem.

Seminar Details:

Title: Environment Pollution
Presenter: Shayma Hamza Sadon
Specialization & Area: Environmental Pollution Types, Reasons and Effects, and Ways to Prevent
Date: June 5th, 2024

Synopsis:

Today, environmental pollution is recognised as a substantial issue internationally. The seminar examined the detrimental chemicals that industries release into the air and water resources, which have an impact on the ozone layer and land or ocean surfaces through wind and rain deposition. The primary causes of significant environmental pollution were identified as overpopulation, improper waste disposal, hazardous chemical emissions, an increase in the number of factories, and the overuse of natural resources.

The seminar stressed the potential of renewable energy sources, including solar and wind power, to mitigate global warming and minimise pollution. It also discussed the significance of implementing recycling systems for electronic devices and the environmental consequences of electronic waste. Further, the seminar highlighted the importance of promoting responsible recycling and waste disposal practices and replacing plastics with reusable alternatives to reduce their use.

The Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering extends its sincere gratitude to Shayma Hamza Sadon for delivering this informative seminar and to all participants for their involvement in this significant event on World Environment Day.
