The Department of Petroleum & Mining Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University organized a field trip along the road from Erbil City to Shaqlawa Town on May 18th, 2022. Departmental staff and 17 students of first grade participated in the trip.
The trip was to show students the geological features which are present on both sides of the road. The area between Erbil City and Shaqlawa district involves many important geological structures such as anticlines, synclines, faults, joints and many other structures. These structures are important to be seen by the students who study general geology. Five stations along the road were selected for detail explanations by the staff of the department Dr. Shwan Omer and his assistants.
