Field trip to Sarta Oil Field (Genel Energy Company)

The Department of Petroleum & Mining Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University organized a field trip to Sarta Oil Field (Genel Energy Company) for third-grade students, on February 16th and 17th, 2022. Departmental staff and 40 students participated in the trip; a group of 20 students on each day.

The field manager and site engineers gave a full description of the existing facilities in the oil production field, which currently produces oil from two wells, namely Sarta-3 and Sarta-2. Both wells are connected to an early production facility with a processing capacity of 20,000 barrels of oil a day (bopd). The field also uses oil storage tanks.

The students later paid a visit to the different sections and departments of the site including the wellhead (Christmas tree), EPF, and labs whereby the engineers gave a detailed overview and explanation of each activity.

The Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department extends its sincere gratitude to Genel Energy for their great hospitality, time, and effort in helping our staff and students understand the oil production processes and facilities.  The students enjoyed the outing and learned valuable information to which they relate their study courses.
