Field Trip to Rocks and Gemstones Museum

The Department of Petroleum Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University, organised a scientific trip for third-stage students to the Rocks and Gemstones Museum in Erbil Citadel on December 1st, 2022, under the supervision of Dr. Shwan Omer. The trip aimed to familiarise students with different types of rocks and minerals and help students relate to their theoretical knowledge in this subject. Some presented samples are collected locally from some districts in Kurdistan Region.

The instructor guided the students and assisted the museum staff in explaining the rocks and gemstones exhibited in the museum. After this trip, each student was required to prepare a report about what they benefited from the presented samples and how this trip helped them apply their theoretical knowledge in the field.
