On June 28, 2026, the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department at Tishk International University hosted a special guest engineer visit. The department officially invited Engineer Gailan Salahaldeen Omar and Engineer Mohaimen Mohammed Younis from the Gas Production Department at the North Gas Company. This major public institution operates directly under the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.

Furthermore, this guest engineer visit took place directly after our successful student field trip to their Kirkuk facility earlier in the month. Because the company engineers provided exceptional guidance to our fourth-grade students during that previous trip, the university wanted to reciprocate the hospitality. Consequently, the department formally invited these industry professionals to explore our academic campus and view our educational resources.

Upon their arrival, the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Fadhil Ali, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests in his office. They engaged in a highly productive discussion regarding future collaborations between the academic and industrial sectors. The meeting highlighted the mutual benefits of sharing technical knowledge and maintaining open communication channels. Moreover, this positive interaction strengthens the vital connection between theoretical university education and practical field operations.

Following the official welcome, department lecturers Mr. Omar Azad and Mr. Nabaz Ali led the guest engineer visit across the campus. They took the industry professionals on a comprehensive tour of the educational facilities. Specifically, the guests explored the advanced laboratories within the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department and other engineering faculties. As a result, the engineers gained a clear understanding of the modern resources available to TIU students.

At the end of the highly successful day, the visiting professionals expressed their deep gratitude. They generously presented appreciation plaques to the Petroleum and Mining Engineering Department and specifically recognized Mr. Omar Azad for his continuous coordination efforts. This thoughtful gesture highlighted the strong mutual respect between the academic institution and the industrial sector. In addition, both the university staff and the guests expressed great satisfaction with the productive outcomes of the day.

Finally, the department consistently works to bridge the gap between academia and the energy industry. By fostering these strong institutional relationships, the university prepares graduates for successful careers. This activity directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting academic collaboration and enhancing industry-focused learning environments.
