Seminar Title
How to Handle Outliers in Your Research
Seminar Summary
The seminar focused on understanding outliers, which are data points that significantly differ from the rest of a dataset. Outliers may result from measurement errors, unusual conditions, or genuine extreme events.
Prof. Dr. Tariq explained why accurately identifying and dealing with outliers is essential: they can distort averages, increase variability, and often lead to misleading conclusions, yet they may also highlight important real-world phenomena.
The seminar concluded with an open discussion, where staff members explored practical examples and shared experiences from their research work.
