Field Trip to Erbil Gas Power Station
On the 9th of December 2021, the Faculty of Engineering, Tishk International University (TIU) organized a field trip to the Erbil Gas Power Station, owned by MASS Company. The trip was held under the supervision of Ms. Jwan Khaleel Mohammed (Lecturer of Thermodynamics), Mr. Nabaz Ali Abdulrahman, and Mr. Mohammed Ariwan Jamal (Research Assistants) with 28 students of the 2nd grade participated in the educational outing.
The purpose of the trip was to train and experience the students in the program courses. It covered how engineers can be aware of the safety and the policy of the workplace, and methods of gas transporting to the station till the electric production were explained by the engineers of the station. Further to this, the mechanical components of the power station were also discussed by the expertise and engineers, including the steam and gas turbines, generators and valves, etc.
The trip enabled the students to discover the basics of parts and the components used in the real working field. It also helped students to apply and link the theoretical lectures in the practical field.
