Students enjoyed a great field trip to Qarachuq

On Thursday 11th November 2021, the Department of Petroleum & Mining Engineering at Tishk International University organized a field trip to Qarachuq Cement Plant (owned by KAR Group), for third-grade students. Approximately 35 students, in addition to departmental supervisors, Dr. Hamed M. Jassim, Mr. Mohammad Ariwan, and Mr. Nabaz Ali, participated in the trip.

The program of the trip included a visit to the quarry of the raw materials for cement production, whereby the geologists and engineers gave a full description of the raw materials excavation and transport by conveyor belts to the plant. The students later paid a visit to the different sections and departments of the cement plant including the plant prototype, the testing laboratories, the central control room of the plant, and the filling and packaging unit, whereby the engineers gave a detailed overview and explanation of each activity.

The trip was finally concluded with great hospitality in the Plant Engineers Restaurant. The students enjoyed the outing and learned valuable information to which they relate their study courses.
