A scientific trip to Field Ready Erbil Makerspace was arranged on December 22, 2020, for second-grade Petroleum & Mining Engineering students. The trip was relevant to the subject of Thermodynamics, which is part of the departments’ syllabus. It aimed to improve the understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies and product development for the current generation. Through this visitation, the students were able to see the use of 3D printers and the design of prototype models for all engineering fields.
The knowledge acquired from the field trip will help the students to think about their projects in the field of the petroleum industry, pipe design and refineries prototype modeling, etc. Students interested in such work also have a good opportunity to attend further training to enhance their knowledge in 3D printers, automation production systems, and laser cutters CNC machines.
