A scientific field trip was arranged by petroleum and mining engineering department to Qarachugh Cement Plant/ Kar Group on 9th March 2021 for the students enrolled in the Mining Engineering course module. The trip was supervised by Professor, Dr. Hamed M. Jassim. The field trip was in connection with the Mining Engineering lectures. The first activity was a visit to the quarry which extracts raw materials for cement production. The students have seen the rock formations and were informed about rock excavation ways which were explained by company geologists and engineers. The second activity was visiting the cement factory whereby the students have seen the different steps of cement from receiving the raw materials to packaging of cement, including the a visit to the testing laboratories. After completing the visit, each student was asked to submit a scientific report explaining what he/she has learnt from the field trip.
