In his address, Dr. Haidar emphasized the profound advantages that student chapters offer to universities. He highlighted the significance of nurturing both soft and technical skills among students, particularly in the concrete field, where hands-on experience plays a pivotal role.

“Student chapters,” Dr. Barham pointed out, “provide a unique platform for students to develop their soft skills, such as leadership, teamwork, and project management and communication, while simultaneously honing their technical expertise in concrete technology and construction.”

He commended the newly inaugurated ACI University of Zakho Student Chapter for their remarkable achievement and expressed his warmest congratulations to the dedicated students and faculty members involved.

As the first student chapter established in the region, Tishk International University has consistently led the way in promoting excellence in the field of concrete technology and construction. The university has been recognized with the prestigious Outstanding Student Chapter Award worldwide for three consecutive years. Tishk International University has actively participated in various hands-on competitions, further solidifying its reputation as a centre for excellence in the industry.

The event marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the University of Zakho, as it becomes part of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) network. This affiliation opens doors to a world of resources, knowledge-sharing, and networking opportunities in the field of concrete technology and construction.

Dr. Haidar’s participation in the panel discussion served as a reminder of the immense potential that student chapters hold for personal and professional growth among students, echoing ACI’s commitment to nurturing talent and excellence in the industry.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the diligent efforts of the University of Zakho Presidency and the College of Engineering. Their dedication to organizing and supporting this inauguration is commendable, and their commitment to fostering a strong foundation for students in the field is evident. On behalf of Tishk International University, we would like to thank all contributing institutions and members for this event.
