Egg Protection Device Competition 2023
In collaboration with the ACI Student Chapter, the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) arranged an Egg Protection Device Competition on December 21st, 2023. Students from different academic years, second, third, and fourth, eagerly took part in this distinctive challenge. The competition provided participants with a practical opportunity to work with concrete, where each team was assigned the challenge of constructing a concrete prototype intended to safeguard an egg. The goal was to build a sturdy structure capable of protecting the egg positioned beneath it.
The essence of the competition revolved around a demanding examination to ascertain whether the concrete structures created by the students could effectively safeguard the egg when subjected to a substantial weight dropped from a considerable height. The teams were filled with excitement as they eagerly awaited to determine whether their design would effectively protect the egg. Teams exerted substantial labour in the process of blending and pouring concrete to fabricate their egg-protective apparatuses. After finishing the preparations, the anticipation grew as students assembled to witness the testing phase, carefully observing the robustness and resilience of each structure.
The event was both enjoyable and educational, demonstrating the crucial significance of strength and durability in concrete for practical engineering purposes. The competition offered students a hands-on and captivating opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge, enhancing their comprehension of material properties and structural integrity in the field of civil engineering. The experience was a perfect combination of education and entertainment, effectively reinforcing important engineering principles through an engaging and unforgettable interactive experience.
