Location: Weimar, Germany

A significant step in international academic cooperation unfolded as the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University  (TIU) engaged in a vvisit to the Chair of Advanced Structures at Bauhaus University of Weimar. Dr. Barham Haidar Ali, Department Head, and Dr. Najmadeen M. Saeed, Assistant Professor, led the delegation to assess the headway made in the Multiscale Consequence Studies for Hazard Impact on Structures in Iraq Project.

With the backing of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), this collaborative endeavour between TIU and Bauhaus University illustrates the power of global teamwork in enhancing engineering education and research.

A thorough day-long meeting saw both parties discuss and evaluate the project’s development. Encouragingly, most of the project’s objectives have been achieved, underlining the dedication of the teams and their shared commitment to bolstering structural safety in Iraq.

The meeting also saw both teams plan for the project’s next stages. They agreed on pursuing additional grants to expand TIU’s Civil Engineering program’s global reach. This aligns with the larger goal of creating a network for sharing knowledge and fostering innovation.

The visit concluded on an optimistic note, reaffirming the belief that international collaborations play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering education, research, and practical problem-solving. This joint effort serves as a shining example of academic partnership with a worldwide impact.
