On August 15th 2024, a key progress meeting for the project titled “Towards Earthquake Mitigation in Iraq: EMS-98 Adopted Vulnerability Assessment of Existing Buildings” was held on August 16, 2024, at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. This project is a collaborative endeavour between Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Tishk International University, and University of Sulaimanyah. It focuses on enhancing earthquake preparedness and mitigating risks in Iraq by assessing the vulnerability of existing buildings using the EMS-98 framework. Civil Engineering Department Secures DAAD Grant for Earthquake Mitigation Project The Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) continues to excel in research and community service endeavors with its recent winning of a DAAD grant under the Ta’ziz Short-Term Measures Program. Civil Engineering Department at TIU Strengthens International Collaboration for Earthquake Mitigation in Iraq On 31st of July, a meeting was held in the office of the Vice President at Tishk International University with Dr. Mehmed Ozdemir, Vice President and Head of Civil Engineering Department Dr. Barham Haidar in attendance where they discussed the project “Towards Earthquake Mitigation in Iraq: EMS-98 Adopted Vulnerability Assessment of Existing Buildings” under “Ta’ziz Partnership – Short-Term Measures 2024” which is funded by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
