Workshop on Citation with Mendeley
The Architectural Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University organized a workshop titled: Citation with Mendeley, presented by Mr. Omar Abdulwahab on April 6th, 2022.
The workshop aimed to explain how Mendeley is used for reference management. Mendeley Cite add-in for Microsoft Word allows you to easily insert references from your Mendeley library into your Word document, change the citation style and generate a bibliography without having to construct each part manually.
The workshop included a practical session, in which participants were given a template file to work on and apply each process step. The software was explained and participants had a chance to work along and apply the theory discussed on the template directly.
Agenda:
First Session (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM): Introduction to Mendeley and how it is used for citations in scientific research.
Second Session: (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM) How to apply Mendeley Cite for documents and research.
Upon finishing the practical session of the workshop, discussions on the relevant aspects of the software were held between participants and the presenter, discussing the application of the software within the academic field and its benefits in research. Departmental academic staff all attended the session and gave positive feedback about the outcome of the workshop. Participants were able to use this technique for citations, and academic staff members were encouraged to use Mendeley for writing and publishing their articles and research papers.
