On Wednesday September 18th, 2019 a seminar was held by the Architecture Department, presented by Dr. Fatina Kurdi, Professor at University TU-Dresden Germany, under the title “City and war – post-war reconstruction: Aleppo the next conflict” . The core of the subject was the destructive force of war in cities, the suffering it causes and the impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. The presentation also covered the strategies that should be implemented to rebuild the destructed cities.
During the presentation, Dr. Fatina Kurdi also spoke about her project with her students at TU Dresden named” Rebuild Aleppo”, in which they discussed this topic in different modules. In summary, the main elements were discussed for rebuilding Syria, which included the following: engage and cooperate with the community, respect local cultures and traditions, remember the war – lesson for the future.
