As part of the Interpersonal Dynamics and Character Building (IDCB) course, students from the Department of Architecture at Tishk International University organized a project entitled “Mosque Maintenance” on Monday, June 15, 2026, at a local mosque in Erbil, Iraq.

The main aim of the project was to improve the cleanliness, organization, and overall condition of the mosque while providing essential facilities for worshippers. Through this activity, students worked together to support the local community and mosque visitors and to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean and well-equipped religious spaces.

This project was connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The activity focused on important values such as teamwork, social responsibility, communication, empathy, leadership, sustainability, and community service.

During the project, students organized a mosque cleaning campaign, cleaned prayer halls, ablution areas, restrooms, and entrances, installed lighting fixtures, provided shoe racks and other essential items, and coordinated fundraising activities through donations. The project also encouraged students to apply interpersonal skills in real-life situations and contribute positively to society.

At the end of the activity, students gained valuable awareness and benefited from the experience by improving their understanding of social responsibility, sustainable development, teamwork, and the importance of serving the community.
