The workshop that was hosted by the Architecture Department in Tishk International University, took place in the auditorium of the dentistry college, on Wednesday, 1st of march 2017, at 13:30.
 
Khasraw Jaff was welcomed by the university’s Head of Board of Trustees, Dr. Idrees Hadi, the Vice President, Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, the dean of engineering college, Dr. Halit Vural, and the head of architecture department, Mrs. Soma A. Kareem
The workshop was attended by the academics of the department and its students.
 
 
The workshop was titled as (The history of Kurdish architecture and the martyr’s monument in Erbil).
Khasraw Jaff started off the seminar with a brief biography and how he started his career as an architect and sculptor. He, then, moved to discussing how urgently we need to start our own architectural identity, and put the term “Kurdish architecture” on the map, and give it the attention it deserves. He also spotted the light on the local materials of the cities of Kurdistan and their originality according to their specific environment.
He also talked about the proportions of the human body and the beauty of it that inspires his designs and art works. That led him to talk about the Martyr’s monument in Erbil, and how it was designed, and also how it needs regular maintenance after six years from its completion. That was the first session of the workshop, which lasted 45 minutes.
 
 
The second session was more about letting the attendees and the students ask questions and he would answer them according to his vision and perspective. This session lasted 15 minutes. As it ended at 14:30, Where he made sure to meet all the attendees, and talk to most of them where he took p. And he was thanked for his visit by the head of the department as he left.
