Our Students Visit Germany for Summer Training

Students Twana Soorkeu and Murad Jamal, from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University, participated in a 12-day summer course in Germany. The course, titled: Additive Manufacturing in Engineering Application, was conducted by Freiberg University of Mining and Technology and took place from August 7th to August 18th, 2023. This summer program, funded by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), provided a unique platform for lectures and students to explore automobile design and production labs and centers.

Twana and Murad highlighted numerous benefits derived from their participation in the additive manufacturing course. They also shared their experiences from scientific excursions, which included visits to prominent entities such as Dresden’s Volkswagen Car Manufacturing Company and the ACTech company in Freiberg. ACTech specializes in producing casting prototypes and small batches for various industries.

The coordination of this transformative program was overseen by Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdulkader Kadauw serves as the General Coordinator of the DAAD Project that fosters collaboration between Iraqi Universities and the University of Freiberg, Germany. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), known as the world’s most extensive exchange program, annually supports various research initiatives and short-term study abroad programs. This year, sixteen students from six Kurdish universities and two Federal Iraqi Universities, including two students from Tishk International University, received DAAD funding to participate in this summer program.
