Mechatronics Engineering Department of TIU visits the Ifraz Water Treatment Plant for an academic trip!

On the 30th of October, the students of UG3 and UG4 of the Mechatronics Engineering Department of Tishk International University visited the Ifraz Water Treatment Plant as part of an educational trip in regards to PLC Systems (Programmable Logic Controllers).
Dr. Ahmed Sinjari and Manager Hiwa supervised the trip, providing their insight and expertise to the students throughout the trip.
The students got to see the industrious design and layout of the water treatment plant, learning of its value and its use of PLC systems to manage a plethora of variables.

Guided by Dr. Ahmed Sinjari and Manager Hiwa, the students toured the water treatment facility’s reservoirs, pumps, filters, pipe systems and control panels. Each of the components was explained individually and then collectively as a whole to elaborate the intricate system that is used for water purification. In each step of the way, they witnessed said components being attached to specific logic system, that all led to several PLC control boards. The PLCs were monitored, maintained, programmed and modified in the Main Control Room to allow control operators to inform and communicate with field operators appropriately.

Overall, the students of UG3 and UG4 gained valuable insight, through both theoretical and practical means, over PLC systems and how they can control multiple structures from a singular control point during their trip, which has encouraged them to be even more passionate about developing their learning of this field.
