Mechatronics Engineering Department of TIU holds a 3-Day workshop for Grade 12 Students!

On the 6th, 7th and 8th of October, the Mechatronics Engineering Department of Tishk International University held the “Innovator’s of Tomorrow: Hands-On Training in Robotics, AI, and 3D Design” for grade 12 students that have recently graduated from high school. The workshop training provided a very streamlined learning experience for the participants, where they were taught in the arts of Robotics coding and circuit design, AI programming, 3D modelling & printing.

Course Highlights

The training introduced students to the foundational principles of mechatronics and robotics, emphasizing the integration of mechanics, electronics, and programming. Key topics covered included:

  • Introduction to Mechatronics: Its fundamental role and applications at TIU.
  • Robotics Fundamentals: The basic principles of robotics and their industrial applications.
  • Key Components: An overview of essential components such as sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers.
  • Microcontroller Applications: Practical, hands-on experience using Arduino.
  • 3D Design with CAD Software: Designing robotic prototypes using CAD tools (Solidwork).
  • 3D Printing: The core principles and applications of additive manufacturing in prototyping.

Course Outcomes

By the end of the program, students successfully:

  • Gained a solid conceptual and practical understanding of mechatronics and robotics.
  • Acquired hands-on skills in assembling and programming simple robotic systems.
  • Learned to design and prototype components using CAD tools.
  • Gained practical exposure to additive manufacturing (3D printing).

This initiative proved significant in enhancing the students’ technical knowledge while fostering critical skills like problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. The course served as a crucial step in preparing future engineers to engage with emerging technologies in robotics and digital manufacturing.
