Spaghetti Bridge Competition 2024

The Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) recently conducted an exhilarating Spaghetti Bridge Competition for first-grade students, offering them a distinctive hands-on learning experience. The competition required students to utilise their understanding of engineering principles to construct and design bridges with only spaghetti and glue. Students diligently collaborated in teams throughout the competition, acquiring valuable insights into the behaviour of connected structures, structural integrity, and teamwork. This practical exercise not only improved the participants’ comprehension of civil engineering concepts but also encouraged collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

The competition concluded with an exhilarating finale in which the top three groups were acknowledged and certified for their exceptional designs. These groups exhibited exceptional technical skills and creativity by constructing bridges that exemplified their comprehension of structural efficiency and load distribution. The students were overjoyed with their accomplishment and expressed a desire to engage in a wider range of competitions in the future in order to enhance their skills and knowledge.
