Site Visit to İberia Ready-Mix Concrete Company 2024
In order to offer students direct exposure to the industry, the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) arranged an educational visit to the Ready-Mix Concrete Company for their second-year students, held on May 16th, 2024. The civil engineering curriculum incorporates practical learning experiences, which included this visit.
Mr. Halmat Muslih and Mr. Mohammed Kany, both faculty members of the Engineering Faculty at TIU, oversaw the visit. Eng. Mohammed Nadir greeted the students warmly upon their arrival at the company and provided them with a comprehensive overview of the various processes that are involved in the production of ready-mix concrete.
Engineer Nadir delivered a thorough account of the mix-ready concrete preparation process, including the significance of each component and the precise measurements necessary to achieve the desired strength and consistency. In order to guarantee the quality of concrete utilised in construction projects, he executed the slump test, a critical procedure that evaluates the consistency and workability of fresh concrete.
Additionally, the students acquired knowledge regarding the process of collecting concrete cube samples from construction sites. These samples are essential because they are tested on the 28th day after casting to confirm the quality and strength of the concrete. The students were able to establish a connection between the theoretical knowledge they had acquired in their coursework and the real-world applications of civil engineering through this practical demonstration.
During their visit to the İberia Ready-Mix Concrete Company, the TIU students were able to gain valuable insights into industry practices and improve their comprehension of concrete technology. This experience was enriching. These industry visits are essential to the academic programmes at TIU, as they facilitate the transition between classroom learning and practical application.
TIU is deeply grateful to the CEO of the company, the managing staff, and Eng. Mohammed Nadir for their gracious reception and for offering this invaluable learning opportunity. The students’ educational journey was lastingly influenced by their support and cooperation, which significantly contributed to the success of the visit.
