Site Visit to Asphalt Factory in Erbil 2024

A group of enthusiastic students, accompanied by Ms. Suriya Shaffi and Mr. Abdullah, embarked on a journey on May 20th, 2024, to investigate the complexities of asphalt production and its applications in construction projects. The visit afforded students a distinctive chance to observe industry practices in action and acquire practical knowledge about the field of civil engineering.

From the initial stages of raw material selection to the final paving stages, students were fully immersed in the asphalt production process during the visit. They observed the complex machinery and methods used to mix and test asphalt in order to guarantee its quality and durability. The interaction with industry professionals at the Asphalt Factory, who generously shared their expertise and answered students’ queries, was one of the highlights of the visit. Students were able to acquire a more profound comprehension of the practical challenges and innovations associated with asphalt production and application as a result of this exchange.

The department is grateful to the Asphalt Factory’s management for their hospitality and assistance in organising this enriching excursion. These collaborative initiatives are essential for the purpose of bridging the gap between academia and industry, providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue successful careers in civil engineering.
