NICE 2024
Tishk International University (TIU) is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the 9th National Innovation Competition in Engineering (NICE2024), which took place on Sunday, May 12, 2024. The Targeting Smart Sustainable Innovations event gathered students, supervisors, practitioners, educators, and engineering enthusiasts from nine universities in Kurdistan and Iraq (Tishk International University, Erbil Polytechnic University, Duhok Polytechnic University, University of Duhok, Kirkurk University, Koya University, University of Kurdistan Helwer (UKH), University of Raparin, Knowledge University, Cihan University Erbil, Technical Institute of Kurdistan) who are enthusiastic about smart and sustainable innovations.
The objective of NICE2024 was to establish a platform for students to exhibit their innovative projects, thereby enhancing their capacity to commercialise their ideas. It promoted the practical application of theoretical knowledge, thereby enhancing the quality of research and education in Kurdistan and providing students with exposure to engineering skills and concepts. The competition’s ultimate objective was to provide participants with the necessary leadership qualities and problem-solving abilities to succeed as industry professionals. It fostered collaboration and healthy competition among students, supervisors, and juries from a variety of universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
An impressive turnout of 5000 attendees was attracted to NICE2024, which garnered significant attention and enthusiasm. A total of 203 projects were registered for the competition, of which 170 successfully advanced and were presented.
The 22 projects in the Civil Engineering field were evaluated by juries from various universities based on the applicability of the ideas, sustainability, technical skills employed, and innovation. The following were the top three rankings in the civil engineering field:
1- Civil Engineering Department – Tishk International University
2- Civil Engineering Department – Duhok Polytechnic University
3- Civil Engineering Department – Tishk International University
