Event Overview

On February 26th, 2025, the Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University, in collaboration with the TIU ACI Student Chapter and ACI-Kurdistan Chapter, hosted the official American Concrete Institute (ACI) recognized Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Bowling Ball Competition. This innovative event successfully connected theoretical knowledge with practical engineering applications.

Participation Statistics

The competition featured:

  • 150+ students from 9 universities across Kurdistan Region

  • 32 competing teams in hands-on concrete design challenge

  • Two bowling balls prepared by each team during two-week preparation period

Technical Evaluation

Entries were assessed by five distinguished university professors based on:

  • Bowling ball casting quality

  • Drop test performance (durability and impact resistance)

  • Compressive strength test results
