Civil Engineers’ Wall

On February 26, 2017 Civil Engineering Department organized an international seminar entitled American concrete institute / Iraq chapter which had presented by Prof .Dr. Omer Qarani, president of ACI-Iraq Chapter. The audiences were from the different parts of the world such as Australia, and USA and many other scholars, students from the different universities of Iraq and Kurdistan.  As it is known there is a demand of growing from the Iraqi civil engineering society, day by day Iraqi universities and engineers return back to be part of the global knowledge community, and building relations with international scientific organizations will achieve this [...]

In February, the Erbil Stones and Gems Museum hosted 2nd Grade students of Civil Engineering department, Tishk International University. Roughly 47 students and two Tishk International University staff members visited the Museum in citadel, center of Erbil city. The trip was a good opportunity to the students to see different kind of stones or rocks and gems. Museum staff led the students inside the museum and presented a brief explanation about each kind. On 13th of February Civil engineering dept. organized a scientific trip to Taq Taq Arch Action Bridge which is made of concrete, third year students were targeted in this trip. Supervision was held by Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Azez lecturer of structural analysis course. The main purpose of the trip to show the practical part of the structure analysis course. Calculation of moving loads on bridge, the type of supports being used in the bridge, behaves, responses and reactions of each member were discussed in details. Civil Engineering first grade students visited four story hospital construction with lecturer Cemil Akdeniz and Mariwan Hussain. The project is constructed by RAQ Construction and Building Maintenance Company. The construction costs 18 million dollars with medical equipment. Student seminars on civil engineering issues have been conducted to provide an environment where participation is encouraged, group learning takes place in the class, to keep the students updated with the technologies, and to improve their knowledge which cannot be from textbooks alone. Q.Editor
